About the UEFA Country Ranking
The UEFA Country Ranking determines how many teams can compete internationally and how many qualifying rounds they have to survive.
The higher a country is ranked, the easier it gets for the clubs to reach the main stages of Champions League, Europa League and Conference League.
Relevant are the points scored in the last five seasons.
A club can score 2 points for a win and 1 point for a draw. In the qualifying stages, only half the points are awarded. There are also several bonus points to be won. You can find an excellent overview about the UEFA Coefficients calculations here:
The overall points scored of each nations are divided by the amount of teams allowed to play internationally. For Switzerland, this means their points are getting divided by 4, since there are 4 teams allowed to play (FC Zürich, FC Basel, BSC Young Boys and FC Lugano). This equals to:
win for a SUI club: +0.5 points for the ranking (0.25 in qualifying stages)
draw for SUI club: +0.25 points (+0.125 in QF)
